Dr. Ravi Bhagrath
Dr. Ravi Bhagrath is a Consultant Anaesthetist at Barts Health NHS Trust having being appointed in 2000. He has recently also worked at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
His interest is in anaesthesia for ENT and plastic surgery as well as pre-operative assessment including head and neck cancer and general.
He is a senior Examiner for The Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) and for the past 10 years he has led airway workshop teaching and training at the RCoA.
He teaches and lectures locally, regionally and internationally on airway management and human factors.
In 2015 he co-authored the national guidelines on difficult airway management which has become the most widely read in the UK since its release as well as generating much international interest. Currently he is part of the team releasing new national guidelines on awake tracheal intubation.
Dr. Bhagrath’s NHS work has also given him the opportunity to be involved in hospital management. He has been Clinical Lead for Day Surgery as well as Clinical Lead for Perioperative Medicine at Barts Health and is currently Airway Lead.
His private practice is focused in central London. Pre-operative discussion with patients is often of great value to answer any questions, concerns or allaying anxieties in the run-up to their anaesthetic as well as the perioperative course.
Patient safety and achieving the best outcome is Ravi’s highest priority which is only attained by attention to detail and excellent team working with the surgical and theatre personnel.
