Male fat distribution varies in comparison to females as a result of their hormonal differences. Masculinising hormone therapy can assist in the redistribution of fat in FtM and non-binary transmasculine individuals. However, Lower Body Masculinising Surgery can help achieve more significant changes by removing female fat distribution in love handles, hips, and thighs. In addition, fat can be transferred to areas such as the chest (pecs), shoulders (Delts) and Biceps to achieve a more masculine upper body. This assists in creating a more conventionally masculine body shape.

REASON FOR SURGERY

The goal of Lower Body Masculinising Surgery (Liposuction + Fat Transfer) is to redistribute fat to create a more balanced and conventionally masculine shape. If you are unhappy with the shape of your body and the balance of your body proportions, our team can formulate a personalised procedure plan that will help to enhance the natural shape of your body and help slimming down areas like the abdomen and flanks.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS

The result can improve self-confidence, boost self-esteem, and relieve gender dysphoria allowing you to feel more comfortable in your gender. The redistribution of fat can also help you to feel more comfortable in certain outfits and articles of clothing.

SURGERY

Lower Body Masculinising Surgery is performed under general anesthesia. During the procedure, fat will be harvested from areas of the body with an excess amount of body fat. If the patient’s desire is enhancing areas such as pec muscles, shoulders, biceps, the fat will then be processed into an injectable form and then injected into the areas of the body where more volume is desired. Our surgeons precisely monitor the amount of fat being injected and the fat is precisely placed to ensure even, symmetrical, and natural-looking results. The procedure typically takes around two to four hours to complete.

RECOVERY

There will be some bruising and swelling along the areas where the fat was harvested and where the fat was injected. These issues will subside over time. Any pain you may experience during your recovery can be managed with medication. Most patients will need to take around two weeks off from work. More strenuous activities like sports or going to the gym will need to be avoided for around six weeks.

You may be required to undergo medical investigations such as blood tests, ECG or others, as medically advised by your surgeon.

  • HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY SURGERY?

Once you have your consultations and your surgery is booked, you will have a pre-operative assessment with your nurse 2 weeks before surgery, during which any outstanding questions will be answered. Your preparation for surgery will be reviewed and information will be provided regarding medications, diet, and post-operative care.

You will not need to stop your hormone therapy.

You must stop smoking a minimum of 2 weeks before your surgery and up to 12 weeks postoperatively.

  • WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DAY OF MY SURGERY?

On the day of your surgery, you will attend the hospital where your surgery is taking place. You will be reassessed by your surgeon and your anaesthetist before going to the theatre. The hospital team will complete the necessary pre-operative health checks.

You will be tired and spend most of this time resting. You will be provided with something to eat when you are alert and slowly mobilised with assistance.
