Eli’s story
“Hi! My name is Eli, I’m 19 years old and my pronouns are he/him😁I came out as transgender in 2017 when I’d just turned 16. I was put on the waiting list for the NHS. I was waiting for 18 months but decided to contact LTC when I turned 18 due to the long waiting list. It was the best decision I have ever made…
I always knew there was something ‘not right’ although I didn’t have the correct knowledge to realise what it was… as the media hardly ever covered transgender topics. As soon as I heard the word ‘transgender’ and what it means I started doing my research. I spent days watching YouTube videos and searching the internet and finding Instagram accounts run by transgender people and eventually it just clicked, and I knew straight away. That’s when I started coming to terms with it and accepting it and speaking about it to my partner at the time.
10 years ago I wish I knew everything would fall into place eventually and everything would be figured out no matter how stressful it may be, and it would be all worth it in the end.
The people who support me the most are my family; they are my biggest supporters, and they were and still are the most accepting people I have come across and I could not thank them enough.
Gender euphoria is one of the greatest feelings. It could be something from your voice breaking, to the new single facial hair, to not being misgendered in public. It feels like pure joy. Thanks to The London Transgender Clinic.”
